OUR SDGS EFFORTS
Aspiring for a world where no one gets left behind, we have taken note of how wages paid to people with disability at continuing employment support facilities often fall far short of the minimum wage.
In response, we continue to run a charity event program that pays wages around the average level to disabled persons commissioned to craft Christmas ornaments and decorative paper strips for the Tanabata festival.
We hold these biannual events during the Tanabata and Christmas seasons in collaboration with the general incorporated association Group Happy Smile and with the participation of hotel guests. Tanabata paper strips and Christmas ornaments crafted by people with disability are handed out to the guests, who then write their wishes on the decorations and hang them on bamboo or a Christmas tree displayed at the hotel.
Also, a donation box is set up at each hotel to invite everyone inspired by the event's purpose to make contributions that are donated to Group Happy Smile. This program also supports forest conservation, as the wood used in the Christmas ornaments is sourced from thinnings made at forests in Hokkaido owned by the Mitsui Fudosan Group.
